Crowds gathered to celebrate & remember at two free Southampton Tree of Light Christmas switch-ons
CROWDS gathered at two free Christmas Tree of Light switch-ons last Saturday to celebrate the season and remember lost loved ones as well as to raise awareness of loneliness in Southampton (December 6, 2025).
The charity Communicare’s light-up events took place on the same day, Saturday, December 6, at Woolston Millennium Garden and St. Mark’s Church, Archers Road.
Annie Clewlow, Manager, said: “Our event at St. Mark’s Church included crafts, refreshments and carols with the switch-on with pupils from St Mark’s School.
“We also had a switch-on at Woolston Millennium Garden with carols led by The Rising Stars.
“Our events were joyful, welcoming occasions that bought people together – and they offered a meaningful opportunity to raise awareness about loneliness, especially during the festivities, but we want people to be aware this is an all-year-round issue.”
