For friends, family and people affected by Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

"My name is Charlotte, I am a PhD student at the University of Winchester, but I am local to Southampton. Working alongside community groups and the NHS, my research focuses on how to improve secondary (hospital) urological care for men with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). This non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate is very prevalent in the UK and worldwide, but is rarely spoken about.

As part of this project, we have co-designed a prototype of an online decision aid with patients and their loved ones. This intervention aims to provide information and support to people affected by Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) who are looking to make a treatment decision.   We are now looking for feedback on this decision aid. We are looking to recruit men with BPH, as well as their partners or family members, and healthcare professionals, to give feedback on the design and functionality of this intervention.

We are currently recruiting for two opportunities:

  • An online questionnaire involving rating different aspects of the intervention along a scale and open-ended questions.
  • Interviews to feedback your opinions and experience of using and interacting with the prototype intervention.

We really want to involve a diverse range of individuals and perspectives in this research. With your organisations help, we hope to advocate individual experiences and ultimately our findings will provide an opportunity for those men and their families to have a say in the future of prostate healthcare as a result.
