Memory Café Helpers needed!
Caraway is a Southampton based charity which aims to support older people across Southampton. Founded in 2018, they have a dedicated team of Chaplains and volunteers who come alongside older people and help them to navigate the experiences and changes later life brings with home visits, telephone calls, and by running local community groups known as Memory Cafes.
Caraway are currently seeking new Memory Café Helpers, especially in the Lordshill area.
Helpers make up part of their very friendly teams that help to run Memory Cafes. You will be supported by their experienced and caring leaders and will help us to run one of Caraway’s Memory Cafés by welcoming guests, helping create a warm, friendly environment, and assisting with activities that support people living with dementia and their carers.
Memory Café Helpers usually make attendees feel welcome and help them to take part in fun activities at the Café. Helpers also help set up and clear away tables, chairs, and resources at the Café, and serve drinks and refreshments and, most importantly, take time to engage in conversation and activities with older people who may be experiencing memory loss, or perhaps dementia.
Caraway usually ask volunteers to commit to 2–3 hours, once or twice a month.
If you would like to be a Memory Café Helper in Lordshill or would like more information please contact us at caraway@caraway.uk.com or visit our website www.caraway.uk.com where you will find full contact details.
If you would like to help but elsewhere in Southampton please let them know, and they will do our best to find another of our cafés that may suit you.
