Nominate your Stars for Stars
Nominate your mental health star!
In a world where small acts of kindness can make a big difference, our Stars for Stars initiative is shining a light on those who go above and beyond to support mental well-being in Southampton.
Conceived by Saire Herschel-Clark, co-founder of our Network and the first leader of our SMILE (Southampton Mental Illness Lived Experience) group, Stars for Stars was born after a moment of compassion.
During a difficult episode at Sainsbury’s in Portswood, Saire received such reassuring support that she envisioned a way to recognise others who offer similar kindness and understanding. That idea has now grown into our city-wide movement!
What’s Stars for Stars?
Stars for Stars is a recognition scheme that celebrates businesses, organisations and individuals who foster good mental health and well-being in Southampton. Whether it’s a shop assistant who offered a listening ear, a café that creates a safe space, or a community group that uplifts others – this is your and our chance to acknowledge them. Each star awarded lasts for one year, and nominations are open now for our October to December quarter, closing date December 31, 2025, with the next batch of stars presented in January 2026.
How to nominate
It’s simple! Visit our website and head to the news area to fill out a short form. You can also request a form directly if needed. Just share a few words about why your nominee deserves a star.
You don’t need to be a member of the Network to nominate or be nominated. And yes – it’s completely free. Please nominate your star here!
What happens next?
Recipients will receive a beautifully designed star, complete with the date of presentation. They’ll also get guidelines on how to display their star proudly—whether in print, online, or on social media.
Why it matters
As Chloe our Network Coordinator puts it: “It’s about celebrating kindness and creating a city where mental wellbeing is everyone’s business.”
